What do others think about Fordyce spots
A new global survey reveals the truth

We’ve always had anecdotal evidence from Fordyce spots sufferers about how their condition affects their everyday life. Despite millions of people saying the same thing, the medical community has remained largely unchanged in their approach to dealing with these concerns.

Fortunately in 2021, a large scale medical survey, called the Fordyce Spots Global Perspective Survey set out to uncover exactly what Fordyce spots sufferers have been claiming all along.

What this survey found was astounding…

1. When shown images of Fordyce spots, most people were ignorant about them:

  • 45% of people thought they were related to a sexually transmitted disease like herpes
  • 28% of people thought they were acne
  • 18% thought they were caused by poor hygiene
  • Only 7% of people thought they were a normal variation of skin
  • Less than 2% accurately identified them as Fordyce Spots

*(note that many of these responses were written out by the respondents initially and later made part of the multiple choice)

2. Most people say they would notice these spots very easily:

  • 82% of people said they would notice the spots either right away or soon after meeting a person
  • 11% of people said they may not notice them right away but eventually would
  • Only 7% of people said they would probably never notice the spots on someone

3. Most people say Fordyce spots would be alarming to them in intimate settings:

  • 89% of people said they would be very alarmed to see the spots
  • 8% of people said they would be somewhat alarmed
  • Only 3% of people said they wouldn’t care

4. When asked to rate the esthetics of Fordyce spots, most admitted finding them unattractive:

  • 81% reported finding them either very unattractive or somewhat unattractive
  • 9% of people said they found Fordyce spots to be esthetically neutral
  • 0% of people reported finding them either somewhat attractive or very attractive

5. When asked how likely they would be to initiate intimacy with someone that presented Fordyce spots, most people expressed hesitancy:

  • 92% of subjects said they would be very unlikely or somewhat unlikely to initiate an intimate act
  • 6% said they would be neutral
  • Only 2% said they would initiate intimate contact

6. Most people think Fordyce spots are contagious:

  • 93% of people thought the spots were contagious
  • 7% thought they were not contagious

And here is the most disturbing statistic to come out of the survey…

At the end of the survey, the test subjects were educated about Fordyce spots and were informed that these spots were not contagious or related to any STD, acne or hygiene issue. They were informed that Fordyce spots are in-fact a normal variation of skin.

The subjects were then asked, how likely were they to change their mind about some of their responses:

  • 78% of people said their responses would remain unchanged
  • Only 22% of people said they would reconsider their existing views

This shows how most people have a knee-jerk negative reaction to seeing Fordyce spots. What’s worse is that even if someone were to explain to a person that they’re harmless, it does little to change their mind.

While these results may seem shocking to the average person, Fordyce spots sufferers would probably be unsurprised because most have lived this experience firsthand.

The truth is, Fordyce spots have the capacity to unleash havoc on a person’s life, however getting rid of them can have equally remarkable benefits that you may not even expect.

Let’s take a look at how treating your Fordyce spots can change your life in many ways.
